91 Receiving RPA-2 Modular Receive Preamplifiers We’ve completely redesigned some of our most popular products to make them easier to use. This newest version of our RPA series preamplifier boasts the same industry leading performance as the previous version. The key improvement here is its internal expansion slot that allows you to add one of our new plug-in modules, like the Receiver Guard or the 75 to 50 Ω impedance transformer. This new unit also features BNC and F connectors to ensure a reliable, 50 Ω connection. These low noise preamps are optimized for the 300 kHz to 35 MHz range, letting you hear the weakest signals without artificially raising the noise. The use of robust components allow these preamplifiers to withstand high signal levels while providing superior dynamic range and third-order intercept performance that equals or exceeds most transceiver front-ends. RPA-2 Modular Receive Preamplifiers include our exclusive, advanced push-pull design that eliminates harmonic distortion. Their high quiescent current increases their ability to handle strong signals without distortion or overload. To ensure you get the highest performance and reliability out of your RPA-2, we highly recommend using a well filterered, regulated 13.8 Vdc power supply. Available for 50- or 75-ohm systems, these units can be used to split one RF signal to feed two receivers or the receiver inputs of one transceiver and a separate receiver. They can also be used to combine two receiving antennas in phase, such as beverage antennas, to form a phased receive array. The splitter-combiners match the entire system to the feedline impedance, have extremely high bandwidth, limit signal loss to 3 dB per port, and provide high isolation between ports, preventing either antenna or device from interfering with the other during normal operation. Each multi-purpose DMC-2 receive device box serves as the connector and power interface box for two DX Engineering plug-in modules and receive filters. It’s perfect for creating a wide pass filter, protecting a receiver with a filter and a limiter, or adding a preamplifier that has filtering or limiter protection. A DXE-RXFL-1 Receive Filter Adapter Board is required to install optional RXFL receive filters. The unit can accommodate one or two filters to create the filter type and input signal band pass frequency coverage and limitations that serve your needs. DXE-DMC-2 Dual Module Chassis .............................................................$195.99 Receiver Guard RG5000HD Protect your sensitive receiver front-end against high levels of RF from nearby transmit signals. A DX Engineering Receiver Guard is the best limiter device to choose if your receive antenna input could be subjected to high levels of RF. They are a must for contesting stations and are useful for all stations, for Field Day, SWLs and when a neighbor or passing mobile generates potentially damaging RF peaks. Extensively tested and proven in real-world stations, the RG5000HD works for all radios and of ers the ultimate performance required by the upper tier of transceivers tested to have the best narrow-spaced third-order dynamic range or published RMDR (Reciprocal Mixing Dynamic Range). These transceivers include Elecraf K3 series, FlexRadio 6700, 5000A and 3000, Icom IC-7851, Kenwood TS-990S and 590S(G), TenTec Orion series, Yaesu FTDX-5000 series, and other radios with similar performance. At the heart of the Receiver Guard is a highly ef ective electronic RF limiter covering 500 kHz to 150 MHz with an insertion loss under 0.15 dB at 50 MHz and under 0.3 dB to 150 MHz. Its multi-stage design includes a gas discharge tube for maximum pulse energy protection. The RG5000HD is a passive electronic limiter, not a filter, so competitive contesting stations still use separate band filters. The Receiver Guard's limiters can reject 10 watts of catastrophic receive antenna feedline RF while passing a signal of about 87 dB over S-9, which is only 25 mw! That level is well under the point of front-end damage. When there are high levels of RF on your receive antennas, DX Engineering’s RG5000HD generates far less harmonic noise than other limiters on the market, which allows your station to continue to operate safely and competitively. At normal HF signal levels the Receiver Guard operates continuously with no ef ect on the performance of your station while providing the best possible protection for your radio. The RG5000HD-PM variant is a Plug-In Module version of the Receiver Guard HD, allowing it to be installed in one of the expansion slots of our NCC-2 and RTR-2 units. DXE-RG5000HD Receiver Guard RG5000HD ..................................................... $99.99 DXE-RG5000HD-PM Receiver Guard RG5000HD Plug-In Module .......................... $80.99 Transmit Receive Interrupter Plug-In Module The DXE-TRI-PM provides protection from station transmit energy picked up by a receive antenna connected to the DXE-NCC-2 Channel B Receive Antenna Input active front end. This optional PCB relay switch device is typically installed in the NCC-2's top Option Slot of the Channel B rear panel board. When the transceiver keys the NCC-2's RADIO PTT port, the DXE-TRI-PM can open or ground the receive antenna input and board output, as selected by jumpers. The device functions independently and does not af ect or depend on the settings of the NCC-2's Bias-Tee Enable circuit that places DC on the receive antenna feedline for active antennas. The module also features a gas discharge tube to protect the front end of the NCC-2 while in receive mode. Additionally, the DXE-TRI-PM installed in the DXE-DMC-2 Dual Module Chassis can interrupt or ground any receive antenna feedline or a receiver input. Note: Adding a second DXE-TRI-PM to the top slot of the NCC-2 Channel A rear panel is recommended for further protection. Enter "TRI-PM" at DXEngineering.com for more details.
